–AAA Teen Driver This page provides useful links for parents and new drivers.
–Teen drivers are allowed to get their permits at age 15 years and 6 months. In order to receive the learners permit, you need to pass a written test, which is to be taken at your Local Driver Exam Station. The questions come from material in the Ohio Digest of Motor Vehicle laws. For your convenience, you can download it here. You can also get a paper copy at your nearest BMV or OSP Driver Exam Station location.
–Schedule Your Test – It is now REQUIRED that you wait to schedule your test until you receive the Certificate of Completion from AADE.
–REQUIREMENTS For Checking In For Your Exam–You will NEED to take your: LEARNING PERMIT, COLOR, MAKE, and PLATE NUMBER of the VEHICLE that you are using.
–Graduated Driver Licensing – Under 18 – In effect as of September 28th, 2025, students under the age of 21 will be required to take a driver’s ED course that consists of 24 hours of classroom and 8 hours of behind the wheel.
